Manuscript proposals should address specific hypotheses with analyses that can be done within a period of 24 months, upon approval by the PPS and receipt of data. The PPS recommends that all proposals include representation from the JHS Working Groups. Please click here to review more details regarding this recommendation.
Documents required for a completed online submission include:
  • Manuscript Proposal Outline
  • Compilation of co-author agreement statements. This is a single document that includes a compilation of emails including the “from”, “sent”, “to”, and “subject” lines  from each co-author’s email stating their specific approval of the manuscript proposal submission.
    Co-author approval  statement: As a co-author of the manuscript proposal titled 'Insert title here', I, Coauthor Name, agree with its submission to the JHS Publications and Presentations Subcommittee. Example.

Abstracts must be based on an approved manuscript proposal or ancillary study and submitted to the PPS at least 2 weeks prior to the conference submission deadline.  Note: If abstract contains NIH author/co-authors, NHLBI must review abstract prior to submission to the scientific meeting/conference.

Jackson State University was recently awarded a five year contract to implement the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) Community Outreach Center (CORC).  The contract period is from 8/16/2013-8/15/2014 for a total amount of 3,086,081.  The CORC is an expansion of the highly successful operation of the Community Partnership Office (CPO), in the Jackson State University Coordinating Center, which operated from 1999-2013.  During the era of the CPO, relationships and partnerships were developed with over 100 churches, community based organizations, governmental agencies, private non-profit organizations, other institutions of higher learning and individual partners.  A community based participatory research (CBPR) component has been added under this new contract period.
